Reading - Read for 30 minutes and write in your reading diary what you have read. 

Spelling - Play on this week's spellings on Spelling Shed for 20 minutes.

Learning Activity - Complete pages 78 and 79 of your SPAG CGP book. The activity is based on this week's spellings on Spelling Shed.

Extension Activity -  Create a dictionary using today's words. Write a definition for each one and use it in a sentence. Make sure your sentences make sense and have perfect punctuation!

Maths

Play on TTRS for 15 minutes.

Today's activity is on My Maths and is looking at mental methods for multiplication.

Learning Activity - Complete  the reading comprehension on pages 4 and 5: An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth. Read the text carefully and use the text to help you answer the questions. Always refer back to the text to find your answers.

Extension Activity -  

1. Look at lines 21 - 25. Can you find some examples of vocabulary used by Chris Hadfield to create drama and help the text "take off"? Can you suggest any other words or phrases that could give the same effect?
2. Watch this video of the Space Shuttle Atlantis taking off: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ey63eDx6aqA. Write a description of the take off thinking carefully about your use of vocabulary to engage your reader. 
3. Research how the position and movement of the Earth in space creates day and night, as well as the seasons.

Extension Activity - 

1. Has this text changed your view or understanding about recycling? Write a short paragraph to explain how it has impacted your own thinking.
2. Research the ecological impact of waste plastic, including how it builds up in oceans and affects animals and plants that live there. Use your research to create a poster about this damage and to persuade people to reduce the amount of plastics they throw away.
3. Keep a record of your household plastic waste this week. How much plastic do you throw away? Could you change anything to make this better?
