PE

The 2014 National Curriculum for physical education aims to ensure that all pupils:
•    develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activity
•    activities are physically active for sustained periods of time
•    engage in competitive sports and activities, lead healthy, active lives

At Elworth CE we follow the national curriculum programmes of study for physical education PE National Curriculum. We give the children a broad and balanced curriculum of physical activities including gymnastics, dodgeball, athletics, games and swimming. Many extra-curricular activities are also available. We aim to make sport enjoyable and accessible to all children regardless of ability and gender. We aim to provide two hours of curriculum PE a week. We are using Government funding allocated to schools by employing a Specialist Sports Company, ‘Sports Coaching Northwest’, to supplement/assist with the teaching of curriculum PE.

We are so fortunate to have our own pool here at Elworth which is utilised from Easter to October half term.
Swimming Kit Information

Just to remind you that our guidelines for swimming attire are: swimming trunks for boys (no long shorts) and a swimming costume for girls (no bikinis).  Swimming goggles should only be worn if you feel the chemicals in the pool adversely affect your child’s eyes.  Please be aware that although your child is allowed to wear goggles whilst swimming they may be asked to remove them if they pose a health and safety risk.
